China produces a cooking robot

Chinanews, Shenzhen, Oct 17 – A
cooking robot recently made in China was demonstrating its cooking skills to
people on Monday at a press release held by its maker, the Shenzhen Fanxing
Technology Co., Ltd.

At the press release, the robot showed to people that it could make over
1,000 dishes with different local flavors. Give it the ingredients and press the
start button and the dish can be made ready in less than five minutes. Two
experts from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Cai Hegao and Wang Zicai, a
Shandong cuisine chef Gao Bingyi and a Sichuan cuisine chef Shi Zhengliang
arrived at the scene to judge its work.

The cooking robot, called AIC (AICookingrobot) or “Ai Ke” in Chinese, was
made by the Shenzhen Fanxing Technology Co., Ltd., with an investment of some 2
million yuan. The company had spent four years to make it. It was the fruit of
modern electronic engineering science and Chinese cooking science. This is the
first robot in the world that can make Chinese dishes, said Liu Xinyu, president
of the Shenzhen Fanxing Technology Co., Ltd.

The making technology of the robot has been acknowledged by the National
Science and Technology Commission as a scientific achievement. Cai Hegao, one of
the experts in the evaluation group, predicted that the cooking robot would have
a promising prospect after it was launched in the market. The robot can boost
the development of Chinese fast food industry and it demonstrates that Chinese
dishes can also be made through a machine processing method, Cai said.

The cooking robot may be available in the market by mid next year. It
will be first used in the commercial market before entering Chinese families,
Liu added.
