Officials from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region recently reveal that the Kanas
Lake will be made into the largest national park in China's west region in the
near future.

The Kanas Lake is regarded as one of China's top five beautiful lakes.
More and more tourists have visited the lake in recent years. However, its
environmental condition is seriously deteriorating. A general plan has been made
by the administration of the lake, where by it will be able to monitor an area
of 1,000 sq km. The total planned area will surpass the Yellowstone National
Park of the U.S., one of the world’s most prestigious parks.

Xinjiang regional government has invested some 300 million yuan to build
Kanas Airport. So far this year, some 920 thousand tourists have visited the
lake.
