NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Dolly
Parton visited former duet partner and longtime Opry performer Porter Wagoner in the hospital
and pledged to sing with him again.
Wagoner, 80, is being treated for an undisclosed ailment and is in serious
condition. Parton stopped by to see him Friday.
"She told him she'd be back to see him again, and would sing with him the
first night he returns to the Grand Ole Opry," said Jessie Schmidt, spokeswoman
for the country music show.
Parton described Wagoner as very weak but said he "had his wits and joked
around," Schmidt said.
Wagoner, who has performed at the Opry for 50 years, helped launch Parton's
career by hiring her as his duet partner in 1967.
He was admitted to the hospital earlier this week.
